Dana's story

Dana Dragomir is a groundbreaking musician, recognized as the world's first professional female Pan Flute player. This masterful instrumentalist, often called the "Queen of the Pan Flute," has achieved global acclaim.

With over 5 million albums sold worldwide (exceeding 1 million in Scandinavia alone), she is considered the best-selling instrumental artist in Scandinavia. Her music seamlessly blends contemporary sounds with traditional roots, creating a unique fusion of Pop, World, and New Age influences.

While often accompanied by symphony and folk orchestras, Dana prefers the term "Pan Flute" to "Pan Pipes," as the latter is more associated with simpler South American instruments. The Pan Flute, Romania's national instrument, boasts 22 bamboo pipes and a rich history dating back to ancient Greek mythology and the god Pan. Traditionally played by men, Dana's virtuosity has challenged this convention.

Dana's musical journey began in Bucharest, her birthplace, where she received twelve years of rigorous training at the prestigious "Dinu Lipatti" and "George Enescu" High School of Music. A rising star in her native Romania, she embarked on an international career in the late 1980s, performing in Las Vegas and ultimately establishing herself in Sweden.

Her breakthrough came in 1991 with the song "Mio my Mio," composed by ABBA's Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus. Since then, Dana has graced stages worldwide, releasing twelve studio albums and contributing to numerous compilations as a composer and performer.
